Address by King Saud: “We Must Be Ready to Sacrifice Even Our Blood to Preserve the Arab Entity” — 1955
His Majesty King Saud declared:
“We deeply regret that some Arab states are taking steps contrary to the interests of the Arab nation. Yet there remains hope and confidence, for our cause is noble and national, and we are prepared to sacrifice our wealth and our men for it. To die in the path of struggle is a great honor. We Arabs must be ready to sacrifice—even our blood—to safeguard the Arab entity and Arab unity, whatever the circumstances may be.”
The King continued:
“Our aims and our interests are one. Through unity, we shall overcome all difficulties, for unity is strength, and the strong believer is better and more beloved to God than the weak one.”
His Majesty concluded:
“I have full faith and certainty that as long as Arab ranks remain united and Arab states stand together, the great Arab cause—Palestine—will be resolved, and the Palestinian refugees will return to their homeland, God willing.”
This statement was delivered when the Syrian and Egyptian ministers were received in audience by His Majesty.
