Peace be upon you, and God’s mercy and blessings.
The Joint Committee we convened to study the improvement of conditions in Al‑Ahsa has submitted to us the following proposals, all of which we have approved:
• Formation of an Agricultural Committee consisting of six individuals from the people of Al‑Ahsa. Its task shall be to assist the Ministry of Agriculture’s unit in Al‑Hofuf in all matters related to agricultural customs, resolving agricultural issues, and advancing agriculture in every respect.
• Completion of the agricultural unit in Al‑Hofuf, including buildings and equipment.
• Support for the Ministry of Agriculture’s projects aimed at improving agricultural conditions in the region, particularly the marketing project submitted to the Village Improvement Committee, which provides for purchasing surplus produce from various areas and securing markets for it, with purchase prices reflecting production costs.
• Permitting the export of dates on a trial basis as an attempt to facilitate marketing.
• Assigning the Ministry of Agriculture to prepare and study a project for establishing a major technical company to improve, package, and market dates and to find new markets for them. The government shall purchase any shares not covered by the public to complete the required capital.
• Strengthening the representation of Al‑Hofuf in the General Commission for Urban Projects in the Eastern Province, ensuring that these projects include increased attention to the construction and maintenance of Al‑Ahsa’s mosques.
• Providing clean drinking water from pure sources through pipelines, to be carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture.
• The Municipality of Al‑Ahsa shall study the issue of roads within Al‑Hofuf and those connecting it to surrounding agricultural villages, and submit its proposals, plans, and cost estimates to us for approval and assistance in implementation.
• Allocating one hundred thousand riyals annually, in addition to zakat funds, to support the needy and widows in the region, and establishing an orphanage in the area.
You shall, God willing, carry out the matters assigned to you from these resolutions.
We have written to our brother Faisal to instruct the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant authorities accordingly.
