Statement by His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Minister of Defense and Aviation
My dear fellow citizens,
Peace and God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
On this happy day—the twenty‑sixth of Rabi‘ al‑Awwal each year—the beloved sons of this nation celebrate the anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Saud the Magnificent to the glorious throne of his forefathers. They seize this blessed occasion to express their deepest loyalty and reverence for their beloved King, thanking God for the grace bestowed upon them in entrusting their affairs to the successor of the great father, the late King Abdulaziz—may God sanctify his soul.
His Majesty has carried the trust and fulfilled the mission, elevating the nation and bringing honor to the Arabs and Muslims. He has been the vigilant shepherd of his people, sincere to God in his obedience, faithful to the noble teachings of the Sharia, guardian of the heritage and rights of this Ummah, and a devoted servant of Arabism and Islam everywhere. With tireless effort, he strives to raise the nation to a level worthy of its glorious past—facing events with deep faith, firm resolve, and penetrating vision. He steers its ship toward safety and dignity, relying upon God and trusting in Him.
Around his noble person and steadfast throne, the hearts of his people gather—ready to sacrifice their lives, wealth, and children for him—as do the hearts of Arabs and Muslims everywhere.
This comprehensive renaissance, which has encompassed all fields—defense, education, health, agriculture, transportation, and development—these wide and blessed steps across every sector, this dignity that the nation now wears as its robe, and these signs of progress that shine forth… all are the work of his noble hands, the fruit of his praiseworthy effort, and the legacy of his wise guidance.
His Majesty has devoted great care and attention to the affairs of national defense and to raising the army to a level befitting the dignity of the nation. Under his blessed reign, the Air Force and the Paratroopers Corps were established for the first time. In accordance with his commands, the government has allocated the largest portion of the state budget and its resources to equipping the army and air force with the weapons and matériel they require.
His Majesty has surrounded his loyal soldiers—devoted in their allegiance to his noble person and to the beloved homeland—with his gracious care. These are immortal achievements that people remember and history records for this great monarch.
May God preserve his precious life so that the nation may attain the glory and honor it aspires to. May God support him and grant him victory. Amen.
