Address of King Saud to Citizens and Muslims Everywhere

These are days in which companionship is renewed, hearts draw closer, and people exchange affection whether near or far. They are days of love in Islam—spreading across the world and filling human hearts, inspiring Muslims to cherish one another, to express goodwill in every form, and to revive the spirit of unity in their towns and villages. All Muslims gather upon the meaning affirmed by every principle of Islam, and upon its universal symbol: the prayer they perform together across the earth—bowing and prostrating—declaring the divine lesson learned in Ramadan. It is a lesson understood by every believer, rich or poor, young or old, in every land: the strengthening of the will within the faithful soul, and the unification of this will among believers. For willpower is the source of virtue and the fountain of all good.

Thus, it is fitting that Muslims honor this idea through a unified expression of its noble meaning—magnifying God for His guidance, praising Him with the gratitude of the knowing, glorifying none but Him, and proclaiming their devotion, reliance, and striving in His cause:

“God is the Greatest, God is the Greatest. There is no god but God.
God is the Greatest, God is the Greatest, and to God belongs all praise.
God is the Greatest beyond measure; praise be to God in abundance; glory be to God morning and evening.
There is no god but God, and we worship none but Him, devoting our faith to Him alone, even if the disbelievers dislike it.”

Indeed, these are days of goodness in Islam—days that exalt virtue, elevate the believing soul, and lift it into the realm of God, seeing none but Him and seeking only His pleasure. It is fitting, therefore, that Muslims congratulate one another on this great blessing.

My Dear Citizens

It pleases me to meet you on this joyous occasion, to convey my affection, and to send to each one of you—across the airwaves—my sincere greetings and best wishes. This is for all of you in the cities and villages of our beloved land, and for those of our people abroad who serve their country, as well as our sons advancing in the ranks of knowledge.

My Arab and Muslim Brothers Everywhere

To all of you in the East and the West, I extend my warmest congratulations and heartfelt prayers on this blessed occasion. I ask our Creator to unite hearts, gather the word, strengthen the ranks, guide us to the straight path, grant us wisdom in our affairs, mend what is corrupted within us, and water the tree of love in our souls with His divine grace—so that He may lead us all to the heights of honor and dignity. For honor belongs to God, His Messenger, and the believers.

O People

These are days in which Islam renews its call to love and harmony—a call proclaimed fourteen centuries ago, realized on earth as noble ideals and living principles. Respond to this call in truth, not merely in words. Establish its signs upon the earth, raise its banners across the world—not as phrases spoken in gatherings or ink on paper. Muslims desire for themselves and for all humanity nothing but peace, security, and tranquility, to the extent that they are able.

My Arab and Muslim Brothers

On this blessed occasion, I pledge before God—and before you—to purify my intention for His sake and for your sake, to devote my resolve, my effort, and my strength to God’s cause and to your welfare. I ask God—there is no power nor strength except through Him—to guide me and you to the straight path, to support us with His aid, and to return these blessed days upon all Muslims while He watches over them with His grace. For He is the Protector of the believers, the best Guardian and the best Helper.

On the Blessed Eid al‑Fitr — 1 Shawwal 1374
