Poem by Hassan bin Waheed during King Saud visit to Al-aflaj

A crescent rose over Najd, its light shining bright—
when the first moon set, a second one appeared.
The light of Najd returned, its affairs restored,
and God granted its people safety and protection.

God brought forth Saud after his brother Noura’s son—
like a great wave rising from the sea to the shores of Oman.
The Almighty compensated us with a noble king,
who strengthened Najd and filled it with faith.

In his right hand are lions who never defy his command—
obedient to him in honor and certainty.
The House of Muqrin are noble falcons without injustice,
each one of them a free‑flying hawk of pure lineage.

A leader whose ancestors astonish even the falcons—
whenever goodness is mentioned, he surpasses all others.
Their horses win glory wherever they appear,
ridden by warriors fearless in the heat of battle.

A cavalry that marches into war with purpose—
when they meet the enemy, their spears quench the field.
And when their ranks advance in unison,
the birds of the sky and wolves of the desert feast their fill.

Their deeds stretch back through ages long past—
their victories delight every noble heart.
Abu Fahd united Najd and secured its borders,
protecting every village without the need for walls.

Behind its deserts and across its seas,
its people—settled and nomadic—live in safety.
When they defended their rule and built its fortress,
God destroyed the schemes of every devilish plot.

And as soon as Al‑Aflaj welcomed his arrival,
it brightened, rising in honor and pride.
It became a place blessed by Saud’s visit,
enriched with his light and generosity.

May God preserve him for us in glory and joy,
and protect him from every harm or danger.

Peace be upon you all.
