A poem by the poet “Ali Abu Majid”

Welcome, as horses greet horses on the march,
As the caller calls, and the valley answers.
As countless as life creeping through the earth,
As many as the pen has written in ink.
Sweeter than cool water to a weary soul,
In summer’s heat when water lies far away.
More delightful than amber, rosewater, and oud,
Softer and finer than the scent of yogurt’s breeze.
A greeting lifted by a loyal, outstretched hand,
To the greatest king whose palms all have shaken.
Your rule is ease, faith, vigilance, and firm ground,
And you have a stance no criticism can touch.
You are Saud, who leads fortune by its reins,
Your path forever guided by wisdom.
You are the pride of child and elder alike,
Across the Middle East—city and desert.
You are the master of generosity, and generosity follows you,
A Hatim of Hatims, even if an economist stood before you.
You were born on the night of victory,
A night when the herald called out for the House of Saud.
And you have a people, the most loyal in the East, O Saud,
Fierce in war, gentle in peace.
And by God, I seek no gain nor purpose,
Except to renew my pledge, offer blessings, and devotion.
