A poem by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in honor of King Saud.
“His Majesty the late King Saud bin Abdulaziz, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, arrived on an official visit to the State of Qatar.
On Saturday, he attended a luncheon held in his honor by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Al‑Wakrah.
Prior to the luncheon, a celebration was organized for His Majesty, featuring horse races, camel races, and the traditional Razfah dance.
During the Razfah, His Majesty rose to join the performers, and at that moment Sheikh Saud recited the following verses:”
How splendid the noble verses appear to us today,
for the land has been graced by the visit of the light of the Arabs.
Its radiant moon has risen in full brightness,
and blessed is he who witnessed this day and can rejoice in it.
Fortune has been raised high upon the heads of the honored,
its light spreading to the farthest reaches of the land.
Welcome to you—greetings of reverence and devotion,
from all who have walked or circled the Sacred House.
You are the light of faith, the treasure, and the strength,
the sovereign of this Peninsula and its protector.
Our land is your land, and we are your sons,
and the prosperity that brings honor, we devote it to you.
Should time demand it, we would offer the precious and dear,
steadfast in faith, and I am among its defenders.
Prepared—lions and young warriors alike,
since ancient times we have nourished the fires of battle.
Every noble man, in confrontation, shields his companion,
giving his life freely, never holding it back.
