Government Budget and the Adoption of the Hijri Year as Its Basis

By the grace of God,
We, Saud bin Abdulaziz,
King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,

Based on the requirements of public interest,
and out of our keenness that the operations of the government align with our Arab and national identity,
We hereby order the following:

 

1.

The Hijri year shall be adopted as the basis for determining the Government’s budget.

 

2.

The budget for the fiscal year 1373–1374 A.H., both what has been issued and what will be issued, shall be approved as the budget for the fiscal year 1374 A.H., and shall be effective from 1 Muḥarram 1374 A.H. until the end of Dhu al‑Ḥijjah 1374 A.H.

 

3.

Actual expenditures incurred during the six months from Rajab to Dhu al‑Ḥijjah 1373 A.H. shall be added to the expenditures of previous years and settled as part of the budget for the fiscal year 1372–1373 A.H.

 

4.

The Prime Minister shall implement this decree and communicate it to all concerned authorities.
