With the help of God Almighty,
We, Saud bin Abdulaziz, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
In view of the importance of regulating printed materials and means of publication and unifying them under a single authority,
We hereby order the following:
First – The establishment of a general directorate called “The General Directorate of Press and Publication.”
Second – The mission of this directorate shall be the organization, coordination, and supervision of all means of publication in the Kingdom, as well as the dissemination of facts and information regarding the progress of reform, and the defense of the nation’s reputation.
Third – The following shall be affiliated with this directorate: the General Directorate of Broadcasting, the Department of Publications and Press, and the various means of publication, within the limits of the approved regulations.
Fourth – Our Secretary — Minister Plenipotentiary Abdullah Balkhair — shall supervise this directorate under his responsibility.
Fifth – The Prime Minister shall implement this decree and communicate it to all concerned parties.
