Sheikh Nahar bin Mohammed bin Ureier: generosity of King Saud

Sheikh Nahar bin Mohammed bin Ar’air tells of King Saud’s generosity and noble character with his people:

King Saud had public seating areas (dakkat) in Riyadh where he would sit among the citizens, receive them, and listen to their news. On one occasion, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mazid Al‑Duwish came from the village of Al‑Artawiyah to greet the King.

The King asked him:
“How are the Bedouin behind you and around you?”

He replied:
“Their condition, Your Highness, is not pleasing to a friend.”

King Saud responded:
“I am the brother of Noura.”

He then fell silent and said nothing more until the time of Maghrib. He led the prayer on the dakka, and afterward we entered Al‑Nasiriyyah. I was among those accompanying him.

Facing the qiblah, the King immediately gave the following order:

“Right now—prepare forty trucks loaded with food, medicine, clothing, and money.
Let every ten trucks head in one direction:
ten to the north,
ten to the south,
ten to the east,
and ten to the west—
to roam the desert and reach the Bedouin.”

Sheikh Nahar adds:

“Subhan Allah—in that same year, the rains came early, the land flourished, and blessings spread across the Kingdom. Even the truffles became abundant.”

This account was narrated directly by Sheikh Nahar bin Mohammed bin Ar’air and recorded by Faisal bin Bandar Al‑Duwish.
