King Saud’s Greeting to Muslims on the Occasion of Ramadan

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

“I implore God with praise, gratitude, and thanks for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. Among the countless favors He has granted is His command that we fast this blessed month each year — a purification for our souls and an expiation for our sins. Glory be to Him; we cannot praise Him as He deserves, for He is as He has praised Himself.”

“On the happy occasion of the arrival of this blessed month, I extend my greetings to my Muslim brothers in the East and the West, praying that God unites their hearts in fulfilling His command to fast its days and stand in prayer during its nights, and that He makes it a month of blessing, acceptance, and divine favor.”

“This season is one in which Muslims must counsel one another toward righteousness and piety, and cooperate in calling to sincere worship of God alone, without partner.”

“If we purify our worship for God — in our prayer, fasting, almsgiving, pilgrimage, and supplication — then all goodness in this world and the next will follow.”

“We ask God to make us, and all our Muslim brothers, among those accepted in this blessed month; to unite our word upon what benefits Islam and the Muslims in their religious and worldly affairs; to grant them victory over their enemies; to protect them from harm; and to preserve them from all evil. Indeed, He is the Hearer of supplication.”
