Address of King Saud to the People of Pakistan

The lofty ideals that guide you toward achieving your goals, and for which you strive and struggle, are embodied in the unity of the Islamic world and in establishing a way of life founded upon the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the brotherhood of faith.

I affirm to you that these ideals are the only true remedy for the troubles and anxieties from which the world suffers today. They are the very ideals to which I have devoted my life, and to which my late father dedicated his life before me. I stand ready to face any trial or make any sacrifice in order to realize these noble principles, and I seek no personal gain in any endeavor—only the public good.

As for the stability of security and order in my country, it is due to the implementation of God’s Sharia within it. The application of this divine law is what has strengthened the foundations of our state. I am confident that your representatives in the Constituent Assembly will succeed in establishing a constitution for your nation based on the teachings of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, enabling you to address all your social and economic challenges.

I welcome the strong economic and commercial ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, and I declare my readiness to provide every form of assistance and cooperation in this field. I have held preliminary discussions on this matter earlier today (Thursday) with your Governor‑General and your Minister of Finance, and I am confident that the outcome of these talks will be positive and pleasing.

I earnestly pray to Almighty God to bestow prosperity upon Pakistan.
