**Research Presentation:

Examples of King Saud’s Humanity and His Care for the Needy, Orphans, the Sick, and the Disabled**

Dr. Nasser bin Muhammad Al‑Juhaimi, Assistant Secretary‑General of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, stated that the governing approach of King Saud did not differ from that of his forefathers; rather, it was a continuation of their reliance on the Qur’an and Sunnah, distinguished by his broad humanity, generosity, and application of Islamic principles, along with his attention to the affairs of the nation and the religious and worldly needs of the people, while embracing the means of progress and modern civilization.

Among his major achievements:

  • Continued his father’s approach in Islamic and Arab affairs
  • Supported the Palestinian cause
  • Stood with Egypt during the 1956 Tripartite Aggression
  • Conducted numerous internal visits across the Kingdom
  • Undertook foreign visits to strengthen cooperation with neighboring and friendly countries
  • Established several ministries: Education, Agriculture, Commerce, Transportation
  • Founded the Kingdom’s first university: King Saud University
  • Established the first military college: King Abdulaziz Military College
  • Issued major state regulations, including the Council of Ministers Law (Royal Decree No. 38, 11 May 1958)
  • Expanded religious education, Qur’an schools, and Islamic publications
  • Supported the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice
  • Improved services for pilgrims
  • Expanded the Prophet’s Mosque and initiated expansion of the Grand Mosque
  • Strengthened the army and equipped it with modern weapons

Dr. Al‑Juhaimi also highlighted King Saud’s letters and telegrams, which reflect the political, economic, and social realities of his era and reveal important aspects of his character—his adherence to Islamic principles, kindness, generosity, and strong personal relationships with scholars, writers, statesmen, and intellectuals inside and outside the Kingdom.

One of his earliest letters to the people began with:

“From Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to my noble people.”

A phrase that reflects his humility, simplicity, and affection for his nation
