King Saud Declares That the Arab Peoples Will Reject and Overturn the Iraqi–Turkish Pact
New York – News Agencies
King Saud stated that the Iraqi people would reject the Iraqi–Turkish Defense Pact and overturn it completely.
His Majesty also said that the peoples of Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon intend to repudiate their governments if those governments do not withdraw from that pact.
The Saudi King made this statement to the Newsweek magazine correspondent in the Middle East, in an interview published under the title “Inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
The article noted that Saudi Arabia may be the only kingdom that enjoys an absolute monarchy, that it possesses the largest oil resources, and that it represents a vital link in the Middle East — a region of great strategic importance.
The article also stated that within ten years, life in Saudi Arabia had transformed from Bedouin life and camel riding to Cadillac automobiles, and from black tents to palaces illuminated by neon lights.
It added that the development of life in Saudi Arabia and the success the country has experienced are due to the vigilance of its rulers and the nation’s oil resources.
The article further stated that King Saud looks upon every part of the Arab world as if it were an inseparable unit that he must personally care for, because he considers himself a compassionate father to the Arabs.
