Al‑Ahram continues publishing Nasser’s handwritten documents
At the London Conference, the conspiracy began
The documents donated by Dr. Huda Abdel Nasser to Al‑Ahram under the title “Gamal Abdel Nasser… The Private Papers” reveal how the decision‑making process began, the circumstances surrounding it, and the details of the nationalization of the Suez Canal moment by moment. They also show the late president’s handwritten comments on the British and French reactions, as both countries rushed to threaten Egypt with military action.
We have followed how Nasser insisted on completing what he had begun—regardless of the challenges—until Egypt fully reclaimed its right to its canal.
In this episode, Dr. Huda continues presenting the documents in Nasser’s own handwriting. We will see how Anthony Eden, the British Prime Minister, lost his mind, driven by an urgent desire to attack Egypt militarily; how fury erupted against Egypt in the British Parliament; and how the British press launched a fierce campaign against it.
We will then follow the conspiracy to withdraw foreign pilots from the canal in an attempt to show that Egypt was incapable of securing navigation. We will revisit, in Nasser’s own handwriting, the overwhelming popular support for the nationalization decision—both inside Egypt and across the Arab world. And we will revisit what happened at the London Conference regarding the Suez crisis and the well‑orchestrated conspiracy against Egypt.
… And now, to the documents:
