On the occasion of King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s visit to the Northern Border Region:
This is a poem composed by the poet Mughthi al‑Jallaudi on the occasion of King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s visit to the Northern Border Region around the year 1373 AH:
O Lord, You who set the mighty mountains firm,
grant us relief before despair overtakes us.
O All‑Seeing, All‑Knowing of our weakness,
O You who send mercy beyond all measure.
You who spread the earth beneath us while You are exalted,
enthroned above the seventh heaven.
We plead to You for the safety of our land and our children,
for You are the Provider of all creation, of every kind.
I watched the stars over al‑Jadhiba for a long time,
as the sun disappeared before the darkness settled.
The worshipper prayed while twilight lingered,
and the worries of night came from every direction.
I sighed a sigh born of deep sorrow,
were it not for my wandering thoughts, I would have cried in confinement.
Last night, O Hamoud, from the tightness in my chest,
my heart churned like a grain tossed in a hot pan.
A grain ignited by the fire of torment,
roasted by a mind lost in worry.
My heart trembled when the caravan approached,
the desert white, and the camels weary.
My heart was struck by the bitterness of nights,
like a sunset tangled in ropes.
The camels halted, their loads bound,
darkness fell, and they found no escape.
They were driven by harsh winds,
yet danger gnawed at the wooden saddles.
I sat turning in circles, exhausted and pleading,
until dawn rose with its watchful eyes.
I longed to see the King, but fate denied me,
leaving me only regret and disappointment.
I testify he is precious to us,
his rule a source of pride and honor.
How many storms he has calmed,
how many gifts he has given without hesitation.
He gives like a generous cloud,
and whoever seeks his aid never returns empty‑handed.
O shining star, breaker of obstacles,
O steel of purest quality, O flawless diamond.
O Lord, fulfill my prayer,
You who created the universe, jinn, and mankind.
May his rule never fade,
may its foundations of justice remain unshaken.
A foundation that guides the ages to come,
until the Day of Resurrection.
Son of the great Imam, noble in character,
God’s law his path and guiding light.
Abdulaziz—whose deeds are mighty,
whose awe inspires pride.
He ascended swiftly to the highest ranks,
earning glory beyond measure.
Protector of our homeland from south to north,
he secured it, and the wicked were subdued.
His fortress stands firm against all tremors,
no enemy can breach its walls.
He dies before allowing harm to reach us,
for he senses dangers unseen.
After hardship, we tasted every blessing,
through the hands of the finest of men.
They brought us pure water to drink,
and our land now bears fruit in every field.
By the sharp swords of noble warriors,
and polished blades of steel and brass.
None grant us honor as they do,
unlike the deceitful governments of the corrupt.
They tighten the ropes on the weak,
yet aid the thief with deception.
Their schemes failed and their tricks collapsed,
they were defeated and suffered loss.
But the trained warrior in the art of battle,
guards us while we sleep.
Men fall short of what he achieved,
he earned victory and honor with his forces.
If the burning heat touches his bier,
may he rest in the gardens of Paradise among the righteous.
May God have mercy on the poet Mughthi ibn Sabah al‑Jallaudi al‑Dahmashi,
and may God have mercy on King Saud.
