His Donation of One Million Rupees for Charitable Projects
Dhaka, April 19 (Agencies) — Preparations are underway to welcome King Saud, the Monarch of the Arabian Peninsula, upon his arrival here on April 22.
King Saud holds a special place in the hearts of Pakistanis, as he is the guardian of the Holy Lands—an honor that grants him a unique status among the people of Pakistan, who are said to send the largest number of pilgrims each year.
Reports from Peshawar state that King Saud today inaugurated the Dargai Power Station, a facility with a capacity of 20,000 kilowatts, at the request of the Chief Minister of the Frontier Province.
King Saud is paying Pakistan an official visit, and crowds lined the entire 80‑mile route from Peshawar to Dargai to greet him with extraordinary warmth.
A member of the royal entourage stated:
“The reception we received exceeded all expectations and left a deep impression on us.”
According to a dispatch from the French Press Agency, King Saud donated one million rupees to Governor‑General Ghulam Muhammad for charitable projects.
In addition, the Saudi Minister of Finance and a Saudi businessman donated half a million rupees for the same purpose.
The Governor‑General decided to use these funds to establish a refugee settlement near Karachi, to be named Saudabad — “The City of Saud.”
