Establishment of a College of Science at King Saud University

By the grace of God,
We, Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,
King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,

After reviewing Royal Decree No. 17, issued in Rabi‘ al‑Thani 1377 AH, concerning the establishment of King Saud University,
and based on the submission presented to us by the Minister of Education,
We hereby decree the following:

Article One:
A College of Science shall be established within King Saud University.

Article Two:
The College shall offer instruction in the following sciences:
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Entomology, Geology, and Astronomy.
Additional subjects may be introduced as needed.

Article Three:
These sciences shall be grouped into divisions, and students shall study one or more of these groups in accordance with the College’s regulations.

Article Four:
The duration of study at the College shall be four years.

Article Five:
King Saud University shall, upon the recommendation of the College of Science, confer the academic degrees specified in the College’s regulations.

Article Six:
The College shall issue regulations specifying the conditions for admission, the detailed academic subjects, the duration of study for each subject, the number of instructional hours allocated to each, the examination system, the academic degrees awarded to graduates, and the academic requirements for each degree.

Article Seven:
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education shall implement this decree.
