In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
17 / 2 / 19 / 1484
With the help of God Almighty,
We, Saud bin Abdulaziz, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
After reviewing the Retirement System issued on 16 / 3 / 1374 AH,
and since it has become clear to us that the rules currently applied regarding the retirement of employees do not provide them with sufficient security for their future in the event they suffer accidents that disable them from working while performing their duties, nor do they secure the future of their children and families should such accidents lead to death —
and since the current system does not include soldiers in the Ministry of Defense, the Royal Guard, the Coast Guard, the Police, or the National Guard (the Mujahideen and those engaged in jihad), nor religious employees appointed on a temporary basis and similar categories who do not pay retirement contributions to the Treasury,
And since it is among our dearest wishes to see all state employees, senior and junior alike, devoted to their work with diligence and confidence in our care,
We hereby order the following:
Article One
As an exception to Articles (3, 4, 7, 13, 17, 21, 22, 30, 36, and 37) of the Retirement System issued on 16 / 3 / 1374 AH, the following shall be adopted:
A. Anyone who is injured while performing his official duties, and because of them, with an injury or illness that renders him unable to continue service or earn a living by any other means — whether he is among the employees referred to in Articles Four and Five of the aforementioned Retirement System, or among the soldiers of the Ministry of Defense, the Royal Guard, the Coast Guard, the Police, or the National Guard (the Mujahideen and those engaged in jihad), or among civilian employees who do not pay retirement contributions to the Treasury — shall continue to receive his full salary from the Treasury.
B. Anyone who dies as a result of an accident or illness incurred while performing his official duties, and because of them, from among those mentioned in paragraph (A) of this Article, and anyone killed in service or who dies as a result of wounds or an accident while performing his duties, leaving behind minor dependents unable to earn a living and without means of support — the Treasury shall continue to pay his full salary to them.
As for others, half of the salary shall be paid regardless of the length of service, taking into account Articles (27, 28, 32, 33, and 35) of the Retirement System, which define legal inheritance, distribution cases, and endowments.
Article Two
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance and National Economy shall implement this decree, and it shall take effect from the date of its publication.
God is the source of success.
