The Guardianship Authority over the Estate of King Saud

Shaykh ʿAbd al‑Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ al‑ʿAbd al‑Raḥmān al‑Maymān:

“His Excellency Shaykh ʿAbd Allāh ʿAdwān—may God have mercy on him—the Chairman of the Guardianship Authority over the Estate of King Saud—may God have mercy on him—requested that I work with the Authority to supervise its accounts. I informed him of my readiness to do so, but explained that this might be difficult without obtaining the approval of His Excellency the Governor. His Excellency—may God have mercy on him—responded that securing the approval was within his power, even if it required requesting it directly from King Faisal—may God have mercy on him.

Indeed, His Excellency requested from the Governor permission for me to work with the Authority in supervising its accounts. At the beginning of the year 1390 AH, an order was issued by the Governor nominating me as the accountant responsible for overseeing the accounts of the Guardianship Authority over the Estate of King Saud—may God have mercy on him—outside my official working hours at the institution, in addition to supervising the accounts of the estate and endowments of the mother of King Saud—may God have mercy on them both—together with the executor responsible for settling the estate and the overseer of its endowments, Shaykh ʿUthmān al‑Ṣāliḥ—may God have mercy on him.

I began working with the Authority in 1390 AH and continued until its operations concluded following the death of its Chairman, Shaykh ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAdwān. All documents and records were then delivered to the committee consisting of: His Royal Highness Prince Nahār ibn Saud ibn ʿAbd al‑ʿAzīz, His Royal Highness Prince Yazīd ibn Saud ibn ʿAbd al‑ʿAzīz, Nāṣir al‑Ḥamdān representing the Riyadh Governorate, and Muhannā al‑Muhannā representing the Riyadh Sharīʿah Court.

  • I personally reviewed all settlements made with the beneficiaries of the estate, prepared the accounting entries and checks, and recorded the entries in the ledgers.
  • I also carried out the distribution of the portions allocated to the heirs of King Saud—may God have mercy on him—prepared the accounting orders, wrote the checks, recorded the necessary entries, and distributed the checks to his heirs.
  • Likewise, I handled the distribution of what was allocated to the heirs of the mother of King Saud—may God have mercy on them both—prepared the accounting orders, wrote the checks, and recorded the required entries in the ledgers.
  • In addition to the Authority’s accounting work, I represented the Authority on the official committees formed at the time to assess the expropriation of King Saud’s palaces and lands that were taken for the benefit of the state.
