King Saud orders the water supply to his orchards to be cut off

The Father of the People Cuts Off Water to His Own Orchards

Al‑Bilad newspaper, in its issue dated 26‑2‑1379 AH, published under this headline the order issued by His Majesty to the Mayor of Riyadh. In this order, His Majesty instructed him to halt the supply of water to orchards and farms—beginning first with the water allocated to His Majesty’s own orchards and farms in al‑Nasiriyyah. His Majesty concluded his directive with the words:

“The implementation of this order is required by our Sharia, and it is our duty—consistent with our established practice of doing everything possible to provide the means of life and well‑being for our subjects and to build our nation.”

The newspaper added: Through this action, His Majesty the King has given us a valuable lesson in selflessness and in placing the public interest above personal interest, beginning with himself before others. This noble act had a profound impact on people’s hearts and was met with admiration and appreciation for the great figure of Saud, the generous father of noble deeds.
