His Majesty the Exalted King arrived early on the morning of Friday, the ninth of Dhul‑Hijjah in the year 1379 AH, at the plain of ‘Arafat. His Majesty reached the site at around one o’clock, where crowds of pilgrims of all nationalities greeted him, and he responded to them with the greeting of Islam.
His Majesty the King led the Friday prayer for the masses of pilgrims in Masjid Namirah, fulfilling the wishes of Muslim scholars, prominent figures among the pilgrims, and Islamic delegations.
After the prayer, His Majesty stood in supplication, calling upon Almighty God to strengthen Islam and the Muslims and to unite their word.
When His Majesty completed the rite, prayers rose from all the worshippers, imploring the Almighty to grant victory to the Imam of the Muslims and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and to grant him greater strength in serving the sacred land, Islam, and the Muslims. The crowds then gathered to greet His Majesty.
King Saud—may God have mercy on him—led the pilgrims in prayer at Masjid Namirah in ‘Arafat on that Friday.
