Daughter highlights the legacy of a King

Princess Fahda Bint Saud unveiled plans to update an Arabic website about her father and launch its English version.
She was instrumental in launching the Arabic site one year ago.
Addressing a press conference at the end of a three-day conference on the life and achievements of King Saud here yesterday, Princess Fahda said the website was the culmination of her hard work and tireless efforts.


"It took seven years for me to collect rare manuscripts, documents concerning my father as well as his pictures. This was precisely after the centenary celebrations of the kingdom's foundation by our grandfather King Abdul Aziz.
"It was also the outcome of my realisation that the younger generation knows very little about the life and achievements of King Saud," she said.
Princess Fahda found it "difficult to acquire invaluable information" about her father due "to the reluctance on part of the concerned agencies to make available all the documents and photographs".
She urged the Ministry of Culture and Information to furnish her with the documents available with it to shed maximum light on the life and achievements of King Saud.
Earlier Princess Fahda presented her paper, 'Studying and documenting the history of King Saud', at a seminar. "Collecting documents on Saudi history has many benefits. It emphasises the importance of writing our history from our perspective," she pointed out in her paper.
It was the first in a series of scientific seminars organised by the King Abdul Aziz Research Centre on the lives of Saudi kings.

Speaking at the press conference, Princess Nura, another daughter of King Saud, has unveiled plans of the king's sons and daughters to establish a charity foundation called the King Saud Charity Foundation.
