King Saud with Kuwait’s Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al‑Salem Al‑Sabah, surrounded by the King’s sons, Princes Badr and Thamir — may God have mercy on them — together with the present Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al‑Ahmad, and the director of the Japanese Commercial Oil Company, Yamashita Tarō, in the Khafji region in 1957, where they established the Arabian Oil Company (AOC).
Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia departed Riyadh on 11 January 1960 and proceeded to the Eastern Province, accompanied by Prince Bandar bin Saud, Chief of the Royal Guard. They were received by Prince Saud bin Jiluwi. The Emperor visited Ras Tanura, inspecting the refinery and the oil‑loading terminal, with Prince Bandar accompanying him.
