Royal address to the Pakistani people at the reception
party given in homage to His Majesty in Karachi

"Brothers in Islam,

"Words fail me to express my profound feelings for your overwhelming
hospitality and warm welcome accorded to me as I was coming here. Listening to
your cheering and friendly greetings I felt I was among beloved brothers. The lofty
principles that guide you to the fulfilment of your objectives for which you struggle
may be summed up in the unity of the Islamic World and the development of a life
style based on the Quran, the Tradition of the Prophet, prayers and peace be upon
him, and fraternity in religion. These ideals are, I assure you, the only possible
remedy to the worries and sufferings of the world. These are .the very same ideals to
which my late father and myself have devoted our lives. I am willing to endure any
hardship and accept any sacrifice to attain these lofty ideals, as the general
well-being is my objective.

"The prevalence of security and order in my country is due to the
implementation of the Shari'a. Moreover, it is the implementation of the Shari'a that
strengthens it. I am confident that your representatives in the Constituent Assembly
will be able to draft a constitution based on the teachings of the Quran and the
Tradition of the Prophet, prayers and peace be upon him, which will help solve all
your social and economic problems.

"I would like to commend the economic and commercial ties between Saudi
Arabia and Pakistan and express my readiness to offer any assistance to promote
co-operation in this context. I have conducted preliminary talks on this matter with
your Governor General and your Minister of Finance this morning. I am confident
that the outcome of these talks will be gratifying and satisfactory. May Almighty
God bless Pakistan with affluence and prosperity."
